Active Alerts

2026-01-28       Data Release:      2025 Limited Disturbance Products are now available.

LANDFIRE’s 2025 Update has arrived with the release of the Limited Annual Disturbance (LDist) 2025 products for all extents.

2026-01-28       Data Update:      Historical Disturbance products retired.

Historical Disturbance (HDist) has been retired for all versions. It is still available by special request via Help Desk.

2026-01-15       Data Update:      LANDFIRE Updates to Product Naming Conventions

LANDFIRE is updating product file naming conventions throughout the month of January. The unicode (3-digit identifier) previously used in LANDFIRE product names will be removed; products will now be named using only the version, product name, and extent (example: LF2024_EVT_CONUS). For more information on naming conventions, visit the LANDFIRE Naming Conventions page.

2025-12-11       Data Release:      2024 HI and PRVI Vegetation, Fuel, and Disturbance Products; 2024 AK and HI SClass, VCC, and VDep

LANDFIRE has released the final data sets for the LF 2024 Update (LF 2024), including Vegetation, Fuel, and Disturbance products for Hawaii and Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. The final products for Alaska (SClass, VCC, and VDep) have also been released.

2025-12-11       Data Update:      Updates to MoD-FIS, LF 2001, and LF 2020 availability

As LANDFIRE prepares for an overhaul of naming conventions, some versions and data have been retired or are temporarily unavailable. MoD-FIS products have been temporarily removed and will be available again in the early spring. LF 2001 and LF 2020 have been retired but are still available by request or in the USGS ScienceBase library. The following LF 2020 products will remain available across all distribution platforms: BPS, Topographic product suite, and all LF 2020 applicable Annual Disturbance years.

2025-09-30       Data Release:      2024 Full Extent CONUS products and FBFM40 Fall MoD-FIS now available

LANDFIRE (LF) has released LF 2024 Update (LF 2024) NC, SC, NE, and SE fuels, vegetation, and Historical Disturbance products. Additionally, the SW and NW GeoAreas have also been updated. We highly encourage everyone to re-download all fuel products for any GeoArea within CONUS as new events have been incorporated (insect and disease) since the SW and NW releases. This completes the full Conterminous United States (CONUS) for the LF 2024 Update.

Seasonally adjusted FBFM40 for Fall MoD-FIS has also been released.

The last products for LF 2024, within the areas Hawaii and Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, will release in November.
